Barcelona is famed for its art, music and performing arts. Major venues include the Picasso Museum, Joan Miró Foundation, MACBA Contemporary Art Museum, Antoni Tapies Foundation, Museum of Decorative Arts, Caixa Forum, Barbier-Mueller Museum of Pre-Colombian Art and the Palau de la Virreina, all of which host important temporary exhibits, along with their permanent collections. The city’s lively gallery scene, with year round exhibits by famous artists and wannabes, is clustered around the street, Carrer del Consell de Cent in the Eixample district. National and international drama and dance groups can be seen at the Lliure Theater, Poliorama Theater and the National Theater of Catalunya. 

Major events on the calendar are the El Grec Performing Arts Festival, BAC Contemporary Arts Festival, Sitges International Film Festival and the International Performing Arts Festival.
